He Said, She Shed
Hopefully, you got that little play on words in the title. Today’s talk is on the increasingly popular she shed. Ever since we’ve had to stay at home more and the work life balance has become trickier, folks are looking for the most cost-effective way to increase the square footage in their home. Well, you’ve heard of the man cave. Now we have the she shed. Adding an oversized shed to your backyard will certainly give you the quiet space you need to work as well as to relax. They come in many sizes and can be designed any way you like. As long as your neighborhood allows sheds you can add a she shed without the hassle of building permits, etc. It might be a different story if you add electricity, cable or other utilities so check that out during the planning phase of your new space.
All the Comforts of Home
When deciding on what you want your she shed to be like, consider its function. Are you wanting every comfort of home? If so, plan for a bigger budget because you’ll likely have to have some professional help with electrical and maybe plumbing as well as higher cost materials in there. The whole purpose of a she shed is to have your own feminine space to do whatever you enjoy doing without interruptions so glam it up if that’s your thing. Making it feel personal to you is important to its ambiance and the way you feel when you’re hanging out in there. If you’re a girly girl then paint the interior with some pastels or hang up some velvet window coverings or even, consider a chandelier as your design focal point. If you’re into crafting then storage and shelving may be important to you while you’re in your room or if it’s sports, then a TV and your favorite sport paraphernalia may be the ticket for you. Either way, make it your happy space, whatever that means.
More Like Glamping
Not ready to shell out a ton of dough on your she shed. Doing a lot of the work yourself can be easier than you think. If you’re just wanting to get away from the daily mess and with some quite time, then all you need is some walls and perhaps some fun decorating. Buy yourself a premade shed, have it delivered, throw up some paint and put in some cute décor and voila, your all set with your own little get away. It can be more like glamping which, for those of you who don’t know, is fancy camping. Roughing it with some of the creature comforts of home. A throw rug and your favorite blanket may be all you need to get in a little nap time and recharge before you go back to being mommy or returning to corporate America.
Buy It
While you’re online exploring ideas for your new she shed you may notice that there are companies out there that sell kits to build your own. They come complete with electrical, doors and windows. Providing you’re handy with tools, etc. you can simply buy one of these kits and build a beautiful custom design yourself. They look quite a bit like tiny guest homes or casitas. Also, on the do-it-yourself side are available plans for she sheds. Buy the plans and build it yourself or, better yet, hire someone to build from your plans. That way you get exactly what you want, and it’s professionally built. The possibilities are endless when you imagine and create it for yourself.
